Kaks ärikorralduse instituudi õppejõudude juhendatud lõputööd pälvisid Ülemiste Citys Ülo Pärnitsa stipendiumi

Juba seitsmes kord jagati Ülemiste Citys Ülo Pärnitsa nimelisi stipendiume. Seekord olid pärjatud teemadeks ESG rakendamine personalijuhtimises, ringpakendite rakendamine, innovatsioonilinnakute kogukondlikkus ja liikuma kutsuv trepidisain. 

Stipendiumikomisjoni juhtinud Mainor ASi nõukogu esimehe Guido Pärnitsa sõnul olid kõik esitatud tööd kõrgel tasemel ning väärtuslikud Ülemiste linnaku arendamisel. „Üha enam valmistab heameelt üliõpilaste loomingulisus ja uuendusmeelsus ning valminud tööde rakenduslikkus. Meil on suurepärane võimalus linnaku arendamisel üliõpilaste ettepanekuid ja lahendusi kasutada,“ lisas ta.

Töö eesmärk on uurida ESG praktikate rakendamise võimalusi Ülemiste City ettevõtetes ja nende seost personalipoliitikaga, et toetada jätkusuutlikku töökeskkonda. Eesmärgi saavutamiseks analüüsiti olemasolevat kirjandust, hinnati praktikate elluviimist Ülemiste City ettevõtetes ja viidi läbi kuus intervjuud erinevatel ametipositsioonidel olevate isikutega, kes tegelevad ESG praktikatega. Intervjuud näitasid, et kuigi ettevõtetel on ESG rakendamine fookuses, on strateegia ja mõõdikud veel puudulikud või arendamisel. Uuringus osalesid erineva suuruse ja taustaga ettevõtted, mis tõestasid, et ESG praktikate rakendamine on oluline kõigile, olenemata ettevõtte suurusest või taustast. Intervjuude tulemused näitasid, et Ülemiste City ettevõtetes on häid ESG praktikaid, kuid teadlikkus on veel madal. Positiivsete tähelepanekute kõrval toodi välja ka väljakutsed, mis on seotud Eesti kontekstiga.

“Linnakute ja seal tegutsevate toitlustusettevõtete motivatsioonitegurid ringpakendite kasutamisel”, Liisi Siil, TalTech (magistrant), juhendaja Ulrika Hurt

Magistritöö uurimisprobleemiks on, et Eestis puudub ühtne ringpakendi süsteem linnakutes, mille efektiivseks rakendamiseks on vaja mõista osapoolte motivatsiooni. Eesmärk on selgitada välja linnakute ja toitlustusettevõtete motivatsioonitegurid ringpakendi kasutamisel ning teha parendusettepanekud toitlustusettevõtetele, linnakutele, ringpakendi teenusepakkujatele ja riigile. Uuring näitas, et linnakute motivatsioon on seotud sisemise ja integreeritud motivatsiooniga, samas kui toitlustusettevõtete üleminekut ringpakendile mõjutab tugevalt väline motivatsioon linnakute poolt. Mõlemad osapooled jagavad sarnaseid eesmärke ja väärtusi, keskendudes keskkonnamõju vähendamisele. Riigile esitati enim ettepanekuid, rõhutades riigi toetuse olulisust ringpakendite laiemal kasutamisel. Autor esitas ettepanekud ringpakendi tõhusamaks rakendamiseks jätkusuutlikuma ühiskonna loomiseks.

Kokku premeeriti nelja tööd 9000 euro ulatuses, stipendiumi andsid välja Ülemiste City arendajad Mainor Ülemiste, Mainor AS ja Kristosten OÜ. Järgmine Ülo Pärnitsa stipendiumifondi konkurss kuulutatakse välja septembris.

For the seventh time, the Ülo Pärnitsa scholarships were awarded in Ülemiste City. This time, the themes were ESG in human resource management, circular packaging, community spirit in city business complexes and staircase design that encourages movement.

According to Guido Pärnits, Chairman of the Board of Mainor AS, who chaired the scholarship committee, all the works submitted were of a high standard and valuable for the development of the Ülemiste district. "We are increasingly pleased with the creativity and innovative spirit of the students and the applicability of their work. It is a great opportunity for us to use the students' proposals and solutions in the development of the district," he added.

The prize was awarded to the follwong theses supervised by the lecturers of the Department of Business Administration:

"Integrating ESG practices into human resource policies for the development of a sustainable work environment using the example of Ülemiste City companies", author Carol Randlepp, TalTech (master's student), Supervisors Marianne Kallaste, Merle Ojasoo

The aim of the thesis is to explore the possibilities of implementing ESG practices in Ülemiste City companies and their relation to human resource policies to support a sustainable work environment. In order to achieve the objective, the existing literature was analysed, the implementation of ESG practices in Ülemiste City companies was assessed and six interviews were conducted with people in different positions involved in ESG practices. The interviews revealed that, although ESG implementation is a focus for companies, the strategy and metrics are still missing or under development. The survey included companies of different sizes and backgrounds, proving that the implementation of ESG practices is important for everyone, regardless of company size or background. The results of the interviews showed that there are good ESG practices in Ülemiste City companies, but awareness is still low. In addition to the positive observations, challenges related to the Estonian context were identified.

"Motivational factors of city business complex’ catering companies and their catering facilities in using reusable packaging", Liisi Siil, TalTech (master's student), supervisor Ulrika Hurt

The research problem of the master's thesis is that there is no uniform recycling system in the city business complexes Estonia, which requires an understanding of the motivation of the parties involved. The aim is to identify the motivational factors for the use of circular packaging in the city business complexes and catering companies and to make suggestions for improvement to catering companies, city business complexes, circular packaging service providers and the state. The study showed that the motivation of the city business complexes is related to intrinsic and integrated motivation, while the transition to the use of the circular packaging by the catering industry is strongly influenced by extrinsic motivation on the part of the municipality. Both parties share similar goals and values, with a focus on reducing environmental impacts. The state was the most frequently suggested actor, stressing the importance of public support for the wider use of reusable packaging. The author put forward proposals for more effective use of packaging to create a more sustainable society.

In total, four entries were rewarded with a total of €9,000, provided by Ülemiste City developers Mainor Ülemiste, Mainor AS and Kristosten OÜ. The next Ülo Pärnitsa Scholarship Fund competition will be announced in September.
