Adding/editing syllabus

Where can I add a new syllabus?

  1. Go to : Study programmes > COURSES
  2. Click "Add new course" and fill in the form. 
  3. After having filled in the form, click "Save".
  4. Once the course has been saved, the head of the department teaching the course must confirm the syllabus and the Office of Academic Affairs must lock the syllabus.

Where can I edit a syllabus that is already created?

  1. In the role of curriculas and cources go to: Study programmes > COURSES

    OR

    In the role of Department go to: Studies > COURSES OF THE DEPARTMENT
  2. Find the syllabus that you wish to edit and click "Edit"
  3. After the Office of Academic Affairs has locked a syllabus, a deprartment can edit the following data:
    1. lecturer in charge
    2. course aims in Estonian and English
    3. learning outcomes in the course in Estonian and English
    4. brief description of the course in Estonian and English
    5. type of assessment in Estonian and English
    6. study literature
    7. daytime study weekly hours and session-based study workload in a semester
    8. independent study in Estonian and English
  4. To edit a specific data field tick the  corresponding checkbox of "I wish to change" and fill the corresponding text field with new information or with a corrected text. 
  5. After making the changes click "Save version" if you do not wish to confirm your changes yet or click "Save and confirm the version" to confirm the changes. After confirmation ÕIS will send a corresponding message to address oppekavad@taltech.ee. The Office of Academic Affairs will decide then, if the current version will be overwritten (for example if the changes are fixing some spelling errors) or a new version will be created (in case there are substantive changes), for the latter the date when the version will come into force must also be inserted.
  6. After the Office of Academic Affairs has made their desicions, you (department's dekstop) will be sent a message with the information of whether the version was overwritten or a new version was created. 

Where can I add/edit the lecturer's syllabus information?

  1. First, a course-teacher pair must be created. Then the teacher of the course-teacher pair can add the lecturer's syllabus information to the syllabus.

Adding daytime study weekly hours

  1. When adding the daytime study weekly hours, please keep in mind that the maximum weekly hours according to the ECTS credits is as follows (except in case of practical training and the special trainings of practical courses of the study programmes defined in the law of maritime safety, where the weekly hours can exceed the  volume defined in the Rules for calculating the workload of face-to-face learning).

  2. If the period of a course has been set for half a semester (autumn 1, autumn 2, spring 1, spring 2), then the maximum weekly hours is double the maximum hours of a full semester.

Adding session-based study workload in a semester

  1. When adding session-based study workload for a semester, please keep in mind that the volume of contact learning can only be up to 25% of the whole volume of the workload of the course (except in case of practical training and the special trainings of practical courses of the study programmes defined in the law of maritime safety, where the workload can exceed the  volume defined in the Rules for calculating the workload of face-to-face learning).
